Philippine Foreign Secretary Theresa Lazaro and her Myanmar counterpart U Tin Maung Swe on Thursday discussed the humanitarian situation in the Southeast Asian country.
The talks also covered ways to expand aid delivery to affected and hard-to-reach communities, implementation of the Five-Point Consensus (5PC), and bilateral cooperation, according to a Philippine Foreign Ministry statement.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) says the Five-Point Consensus remains its main framework for addressing the crisis in Myanmar. The consensus calls for an immediate end to violence and dialogue among warring factions.
The program of Lazio, who concluded a two-day humanitarian visit to Myanmar on Thursday, included a symbolic handover of a reconstructed monastery in the Pyinmana Township.
The Philippines currently holds the ASEAN chairmanship.
