Data from the European statistical office showed that fuel and lubricant prices for personal transport in the EU rose 16.9% in July year-on-year.
The annual price growth followed year-on-year increases of 20.7% in May and 13.7% in June, Eurostat stated.
Eurostat reported that fuel and lubricant prices stood higher in 25 of the 27 EU member states in July compared to the same month of 2025.
Romania recorded the highest annual increase at 24.2%, while Germany and Lithuania followed it with 22.9% each.
Prices dropped slightly in Hungary by 0.1%, and Sweden and Ireland registered the lowest increases at 1.2% and 3.2%, respectively.
EU consumers saw diesel prices increase by 4.3% and gasoline by 4.7% in July on a monthly basis.
Diesel prices increased in 17 EU countries between June and July, with Poland leading at 13.4%, followed by Germany at 12.7% and Greece at 12.1%.
Nine EU countries experienced a drop in diesel prices, as Greek Cypriot recorded the largest decrease at 7.9%.
Data indicated that 14 countries recorded increases and 12 countries recorded decreases in gasoline prices between June and July.
Poland saw the largest gasoline price increase at 17.2%, while Sweden recorded the most significant decrease at 11.1%.
