Finland announces 34th defense support package for Ukraine

Finnish President Alexander Stubb announced Tuesday the 34th support package aimed at helping Ukraine with its defense capabilities.

"Ukraine is preparing for the coming winter and needs all our support. Finland has today decided on the 34th support package with defense materiel to Ukraine, worth 290 million euros ($334 million)," Stubb wrote on US social media company X.

He noted that the package contained material Ukraine urgently requested.

"Ukraine's defense struggle is now in its fifth year. We support Ukraine because it is morally right and because it concerns the security of all of Europe, and thus also Finland," Stubb added.

Last August, Stubb also announced that Finland and Ukraine could reach an agreement on drone cooperation soon, with Finland planning to send 90% of its drone production to Ukraine.

He described the planned cooperation as mutually beneficial and compared it with Denmark's model of directly financing Ukrainian defense industry firms.

Stubb also said defense cooperation between Finland and Ukraine covered five areas: maritime, air, land, cyber, and space.
