Israeli forces raided the village of Breqa in Syria’s southern Quneitra province on Tuesday, marking another violation of the country’s sovereignty.
Syrian Al-Ikhbariah TV said Israeli forces stormed a house and searched it during the raid.
The incident was the latest in a series of Israeli raids and shelling in Quneitra in recent days.
On Sunday, Al-Ikhbariah said Israeli forces fired an artillery shell at the outskirts of the village of Eastern Samadaniya in central Quneitra countryside. A day earlier, Israeli forces fired six artillery shells at the outskirts of the town of Al-Rafid in southern Quneitra.
A force of five Israeli military vehicles also raided the area around the town before withdrawing, with no arrests reported.
Breqa itself has witnessed repeated Israeli raids in recent months, including one on July 31, when a force of three military vehicles entered the village, set up a checkpoint and searched passersby, with no arrests reported.
Areas in southern Syria have seen near-daily Israeli raids and attacks, particularly in Quneitra and Daraa provinces, including home raids, searches, arrests and the setting up of military checkpoints.
Israel has occupied most of Syria’s Golan Heights since 1967. After the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime on Dec. 8, 2024, Israel announced the collapse of the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement and occupied the Syrian buffer zone and other sites, including the Syrian side of Mount Hermon (Jabal al-Sheikh).
On July 26, Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa said his country was working, with the participation of other states, to reach a security agreement with Israel, adding that its success would pave the way for comprehensive peace without giving up Syria’s rightful claim to the occupied Golan.
