NORTH WAZIRISTAN
A drone has killed at least five militants and injured three others in Pakistan near the Afghan border on Wednesday.
Independent sources in the area confirmed that drones had targeted a house and an off-road vehicle owned by Taliban militants.
The drones, according to local sources, could still be seen flying low in the area after the strike.
The previous day, the Pakistani Air Force had also bombarded militants’ hideouts in the volatile North-Waziristan area, killing 23 militants.
A military operation has been ongoing in the area against Uzbek and Pakistani militants who previously had a strong hold over the area.
North Waziristan is believed to be the launch pad for hard-line militants to carry out attacks in Afghanistan.
