Turkish foreign minister to visit UAE on Monday

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday for talks focusing on bilateral relations and regional developments.

According to Turkish Foreign Ministry sources, Fidan is expected to review preparations for the second meeting of the Türkiye-UAE High-Level Strategic Council during his talks.

Fidan is also set to reaffirm that he and Türkiye stand in full solidarity with the UAE, one of the countries most adversely affected by the war in the Gulf, and stress that external interventions in the region have caused disputes to become protracted, underscoring the need to strengthen regional ownership.

The foreign minister will also emphasize the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb for regional and global stability.

He is also expected to say that a unified Yemen that has achieved peace and stability is critically important for the security of the Middle East.

Fidan will stress the need to move without delay to the second phase of the peace plan in Gaza, improve the humanitarian situation and launch reconstruction efforts.

In this context, he is set to hold consultations on the work of the Board of Peace, of which both countries are founding members.

Fidan is also expected to emphasize the importance of the international community adopting a determined and unified stance to preserve and make permanent the ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon in the face of attacks by "occupying Israel."

Fidan last visited the UAE on March 20.

Bilateral relations

Türkiye and the UAE have maintained a strategic partnership since 2023.

The first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council, established between the two countries in 2023, was held at the leaders' level in Ankara on July 16, 2025.

The UAE is the Gulf country with the largest investments in Türkiye and Türkiye's largest trading partner in the Gulf.

Bilateral trade totaled $19.346 billion in 2025.
