The World Federation of Travel Journalists and Writers (FIJET) on Monday presented Ankara's Hamamonu district with the "Golden Apple Award", considered to be the FIJET version of the Oscar award, in a ceremony held in Turkish capital of Ankara.
Speaking at the ceremony, Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism, Ertugrul Gunay said that Hamamonu won the award after going through restoration by the Municipality of Altindag in Ankara province.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the Executive Board Chairman of FIJET, Tijani Hadden said that cultural heritage was protected in Hamamonu and this location carried cultural message for the whole globe.
