The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Wednesday with 11,947.18 points, down 2.79% from the previous close.
After starting at 12,206.89, the BIST 100 index fell 343.40 points from its close Tuesday.
The daily low for the index was 11,926.04, with a high of 12,295.80.
A total of 86 indexes lost value, while 13 closed in positive territory.
The daily transaction volume reached 150.5 billion Turkish liras ($3.07 billion), while the overall value of the index was 11.39 trillion liras.
The USD/TRY exchange rate was 49.0175 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT); the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 55.7090. The British pound traded at 65.0600.
Gold was at $4,160.15 per ounce, while Brent crude oil futures were $98.90.
