KABUL, Afghanistan
A suicide bomber drove a mini-truck loaded with explosives into a residential compound used by foreigners near Kabul airport, just hours after another bomber detonated his explosives in the same area.
Health Ministry spokesman Waheedullah Mayar said Monday evening’s attack wounded 29 people, including women and children, some of whom were in critical condition.
The Taliban militant group claimed responsibility for the attack.
“A suicide truck bomber targeted a camp of foreigners, which killed tens of invaders,” Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed in a statement.
The target was a heavily-protected residential compound housing foreign civilian contractors.
Nearby houses and shops were destroyed and security forces cordoned off the area.
