LONDON
A London-based charity organization has vowed support for an aid campaign for civil war-stricken Syrians.
Al Muntada Al-Islami Trust's Secretary Abdul Hakeem Montague said in a press conference on Tuesday the charity hoped to raise $1 million in three months for "Bread&Blanket for Syria" campaign, an aid drive launched by a group of Turkish civil society groups to help internally displaced Syrians.
"We hope to send blankets, tents, water, flour and medicine to the Syrian people," Montague said.
The campaign will be launched internationally on Wednesday.
Foundations and associations from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Malaysia, Pakistan, Britain, Macedonia, Kuwait, Morocco, Lebanon, Libya, Yemen, Jordan, Egypt, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Bahrain, Algeria and Belgium will join the aid campaign by simultaneous press conferences on Wednesday.
