Tanker hit by 'unknown projectiles' near UAE’s Fujairah, crew safe

A tanker was struck Sunday by unknown projectiles in waters north of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) Center.

In a statement on its official website, UKMTO said it had received a report of an incident approximately 78 nautical miles (89.7 miles) north of the city.

“The tanker reported being hit by unknown projectiles. All crew are safe. No environmental impact has been reported,” it said.

Authorities have not yet provided details on the origin or nature of the projectiles.
